Metal To The Masses Grand Final Wolves: Part Three

Here’s Bands Three And Four. Expect beer, metal and more metal

So here’s the thing.

A little earlier in the year, a process began that could change the lives of one band in the Wolverhampton area forever.

Way back in February 23 bands, three judges, two promoters and two harassed ladies who’s job it was to count the votes, started on the road that all came down to this. The Grand Final.

Six bands through. Only one plays Bloodstock in August. And there’s a set from the mighty Eradikator – who won the Birmingham version last year (and if you don’t know why you should see them, here’s our review from their gig on Saturday)

Good luck to all the bands – it’s been a real pleasure being a judge. All of the bands that have played would have graced the final, but only these six can.

Here’s bands five and six

Slaughter Horse
They say: “A powerful creature of Beauty and Bile. Majesty and Malevolence. Honor and Hatred. Expressed through compositions carefully thought out to warp the sane and tame the twisted. Relentless power through music.”

We say: “Return To Our Shores” brings with it a type of Cancer Bats or Every Time I Die feel. The other tracks bring a slightly more metal edge, and their delivery is exceptionally tight. “Are you ready to get Slaughtered?” Asks singer Jim Chilton, many more songs like closing number “Archetype Decimate” and people will be queuing up.” MVM

 XVII
They say:
We supported ‘The Defiled’ at the Slade Rooms in Wolverhampton on the 21st of may 2013. Kerrang! had this to say about us: “The centre of the room breaks into a pit as the last support steps up to the mic. XVII are heavy, fast and full on. As they finish the first song of their set, the crowd chant their name, demanding more. The band power through a confident set with dual vocals and deliciously heavy riffs. They slow it down with the song ‘Dream’, before finishing the set by all windmilling in time with each other on the final song. Remember where you heard the name.

We say: Absolutely one of the stand out bands in the heats and semi’s (we can say that as we aren’t judging the final!) Kidderminster’s finest, you know, give or take Robert Plant and that….
