American singer songwriter Shawn James announces tour dates in support of his doom-blues solo album titled, On The Shoulders of Giants. Out now, the album was recorded at Sun Studios in Memphis in 2016. He will tour both as an acoustic one-man band and also with his fully electric metal-folk band, The Shapeshifters.
Shawn James has garnered an immense social media following, particularly on YouTube where his music videos are routinely seen by millions of fans. Last December Shawn James’s song “Through the Valley” was pushed to the top of the Spotify “Most Viral” Chart by the debut of the Sony PlayStation trailer for the gory action-adventure video game developed by Naughty Dog, called The Last of Us Part II. Game Revolution commented “While the trailer…didn’t necessarily break the internet, it certainly put it on notice.” In just one week the trailer racked up millions of views and spawned countless videos of fans from all over the world performing the song.
Such viral numbers are not an anomaly, James’ impromptu video taping of “American Hearts” on a snowy winter’s day outside a wolf sanctuary in Colorado also went viral, gaining over 3.3 million views.
Shawn James and the Shapeshifters garnered the attention of music supervisors with original songs like “Omen” which landed a placement on popular Discovery Channel show Yukon Men. In 2015 the band won a competition held by Metalsucks and Converse and got to record their song “Hellhound” at a Converse Rubber Tracks recording facility in New York.
