Renowned wordsmith, Sean McConnell is bringing his extraordinary talent to the UK next week, performing in London, Manchester, and Glasgow. For nearly 20 years, McConnell has crafted songs for some of music’s biggest names, including Tim McGraw, Ashley McBryde, Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts, Brothers Osborne, and Meatloaf. A playlist of his remarkable work is available here, a dizzying array spanning styles, generations, and genres.
Recently, McConnell celebrated his first #1 single on the country charts with Brett Young’s “Mercy,” a song he co-wrote.
As a performer, McConnell has a rare gift for drawing audiences in. His warm tenor, painting vivid stories over acoustic guitar and lush instrumentation, has captivated communities from Boston’s folk scene to Texas’s fiercely independent music culture. These live shows promise an intimate, immersive experience, highlighting the emotional storytelling that defines his music.

“There is a part of me that is always after the next high. Chasing the next dopamine hit,” says McConnell. “My chemical makeup seems to always remind me that if a little bit of something is good then all of it would be even better. Anything from cigarettes, coffee, alcohol, even music. ‘I get a taste, I lose control, I learn a chord, I write a song, I sell my soul to rock and roll.’ The moment I learned to play a chord I never put the guitar down. My whole life was spoken for in that moment in a sense. I’m an all-in or all-out guy. A dog with a bone.”
This intensity fueled his latest album SKIN, which explores themes of identity, growth and human spirit. McConnell says giving up alcohol and shedding other old habits has sharpened his focus: “I bob and weave, ever mindful of my appetite.”
