We are delighted to be exclusively sharing the new EP from Sell Yourself Short.
The hard hitting punk fuelled alternative rock outfit unleash a fury of energy and power in their new EP The Lowest Standard. Hailing from Asbury Park, New Jersey, the band initially formed in 2016 under the name BEST REGARDS. Fast forward to 2020, having undergone a number of line-up changes and rebranding, SELL YOURSELF SHORT threw their all into writing The Lowest Standard.
“SELL YOURSELF SHORT are excited to announce our latest EP The Lowest Standard due on streaming platforms December 3rd, 2021. All written and recorded in the first half of 2021, we are proud to say it was entirely self produced and we hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed making it.”
Drawing influences from all varieties of punk, rock and alternative sounds, the new EP sees the dynamic trio offering an insight into their creative capabilities. Kicking off with the title track, “The Lowest Standard”, heavily overdriven guitars performed with intense speed deliver a wall of sound. A distinctive punk attitude comes through with harsh vocals enhancing the aggressive edge. Throwing in a soaring chorus and the alternative elements add something extra to the highly impactful track. “(In These) Four Walls” delves into a darker sound opening with deliciously distorted chugging. The heavier mood is contrasted with another soaring chorus and sees the track flowing seamlessly between the two styles. Embracing further experimentation, a serene guitar lead melody, with haunting orchestral strings accompanying, provides a dramatic introduction to “The Bitterness At Hand”.
Fusing the dynamic atmosphere with their high-powered spirit, SELL YOURSELF SHORT illustrate their creative flare. The outfit don’t hold back with The Lowest Standard. Diving head-first into an enthralling, electric sound, the new EP explores their distinctive musical style and packs a mighty punch.
