Garry Foster takes in a jaw dropping show in the Black Country
I never associated the last day of November with spectacular Swedish musicianship….I do now!!
I headed off to the Bilston Robin on a cold Sunday evening to see Moon Safari, a band I have enjoyed for a while now, this would be my first chance to witness them live, and my word they didn’t disappoint.
The guys took to the stage bang on 8.30pm to rousing applause and then proceeded to knock our socks off for the next one hour & forty five mins, in all my visits to the wonderful Bilston Robin, I’ve not seen a band deliver a set like that.
The band dished up all the tracks we wanted ‘Barfly’, ‘Too Young To Say Goodbye’ the epic ‘Lovers End Pt 3’ and many others including the anthemic ‘Mega Moon’ which in my humble opinion is one of the best tracks of the last five years, they even had time to treat us to an acapella track before they returned for the richly deserved encore. Simply stunning!!!
My worry beforehand was whether the band could recreate the amazing studio recordings on the live stage. I needn’t have worried, those fears were firmly put to bed within seconds of the set opener, an incredible evening from start to finish.
Next time this incredible band hit our shores, make sure you grab a ticket, they are a joy to behold, a wonderfully talented band, a catalogue of amazing songs……and darn nice fellows too.
