In The Pink

A cover of the Foreigner “classic” (once dismissed by our Editor as “the third worst song of all time”) that doesn’t suck ass? Read on

PINK MILK have premiered their debut single and video, ‘I Want To Know What Love Is’ on Wonderland who describe it as a ‘fluid drunken drawl you can imagine playing in Twin Peaks’.

PINK MILK are singer and drummer, Maria and guitarist, Edward, from Gothenburg, Sweden. Influenced by the dreamy bubblegum shoegaze and gothic minimalism of 90s acts like The Jesus and Mary Chain, Cocteau Twins and Cranes – as well as cult movies like Twin Peaks, True Romance and the work of Sofia Coppola – the duo’s gloomy, glittering sound gives a languid, moody feel to Foreigner’s classic power-ballad (and it’s mixed by Niels Nielsen who works with spooky doom-metallers, Ghost).

Featuring lo-fi eighties visuals and glamorous skeletons, the band say: “the video and its animations are made by Maria from Pink Milk and inspired by Death and how hard it must be for him to find life-long love. This cover is a celebration to one of the greatest ballads of the 80s – a song that still keeps telling us love is hard.”

‘I Want To Know What Love Is (Foreigner Cover)’ is out now.
