London UK based guitarist and singer Jack J Hutchinson releases his latest single ‘The Hammer Falls‘, being the title track of his widely well received and highly acclaimed new album. A limited to 50 run of collectors item cassette tapes with ‘Gunslinger‘ as a B-side are available via Eyesore Merch.
Never one to shy away his feelings or opinions, “I don’t really write politically motivated songs, but this is definitely one. It’s about the world tumbling down around us, but having the guts and drive to keep on going, no matter what. It’s about standing up to bullies – of which there are many in this world. But the message is clear…their time will come.“
The uptempo rocker is accompanied by a swirling, image laden, hypnotic lyric video courtesy of Studface Productions, “Something I love about this song is that it features multiple layers of guitars!” laughs the ever affable Burnley born rocker, “I was going for the whole Queen vibe, with lots of harmony parts. But we were listening to a lot of old school Metallica at the time too, so I think there’s a bit of Master of Puppets about the riff. It’s my favourite from the new album to play live where it’s a case of crank the fucker up and let rip! I love it.”
The heavily guitar driven album was co-produced by Josh Norton-Cox, recorded at Momentum Studios, Devon with additional production and mixing by Josiah J Manning (Inglorious, Kris Barras Band, Moriaty, Wille and The Bandits), alongside mastering by the Grammy award winning Stardelta (Noel Gallagher).
Going on to enthuse about his latest collection of songs , “We’ve thrown everything but the kitchen sink at this record. It’s a step up from my previous albums both in terms of songwriting but also production. We tracked most of the songs live in a room together, which was really important to the ethos of the sound.“
“It’s my most personal record to date, but it touches on wider themes such as mortality and loss which affect us all.” muses Jack reflecting upon a period of time which was challenging for all walks of life, “It’s hard hitting, rammed with heavy riffs and guitar solos, but with lyrics and melodies that will hopefully touch and move people. It’s a banger, the songs are fun to play and have gone down very well on tour!“
The exuberant and crowd pleasing frontman guitarist has extensively toured in the UK, internationally in Brazil, Spain, Russia, France and Germany to great acclaim and festival appearances include Loverocks, Wildfire, BluesFest at the O2 Arena and Ramblin’ Man Fair amongst many. Recently Jack played his largest London show to date at O2 Islington along with Planet Rock Winter’s End to an elated ovation and will announce further tour dates for later this year.
