Today singer, songwriter and guitarist Howie Payne releases ‘All That’s Glass’. Coming hot on the heels of the epic ‘Echoes of the Light’, ‘All That’s Glass’ is his first release of 2023, and a further taste of what’s to come this year.
As with ‘Echoes of the Light’,Payne wrote, plays all the instruments on, and produced psychedelic pop gem ‘All That’s Glass’, which was then mixed and mastered in Los Angeles by the legendary John Paterno, who also engineered The Stands ‘Horse Fabulous’ and mixed solo album ‘Mountain’.
Talking about ‘All That’s Glass’ – Payne notes;
“Keen listeners will recognise this tune as I wrote it when I was doing The Stands. A quick phone demo done in a dressing room somewhere came out as a Stands B-side because we needed an extra track last minute. I remember thinking at the time that I wasn’t into the sound of the demo and that I’d record a proper version down the line, but it never happened. I always really liked the song though, and a lot of people ask me about it, like it’s got a bit of a cult following, including me. I was going through some old demos and I came across it – I’d kinda forgot about it so it felt fresh and I was able to hear it almost as a new song. I approached it as if I’d just written it, so it retains the essence of where it came from, but fits with where I’m at and what I’m doing now”.
