Scots Alt-rockers with a new EP out
Layered atmospheric guitars and pounding drums build around the bluesy undertones of front woman Keli Thomson’s vocals in Edinburgh’s latest alternate rock group, Painting Rockets.
The three-piece came together in 2014 when guitarist Stephen Christie recruited vocalist Keli Thomson and bassist Dan Howlieson. Christie had already been writing and recording music as a solo musician before making the decision to expand.
The band released their debut EP “Happiness in Measures” last year which was recently remastered and re-released to great reception.
Immediately striking comparisons to Pvris, Paramore and Tonight Alive, Painting Rockets are making their own name in the Scottish Capital for female-fronted alternative rock after getting the seal of approval from Hayley Williams herself after Keli won the 2016 Pareoke competition.
After an extended break from live shows and a few line up changes Painting Rockets have released their second self-recorded and produced EP “From the Debris.”
