Having many times been lauded as ‘the new Tom Petty’, this year Hamilton decided to offer his Patreon subscribers a different Tom Petty cover each month.
Free Fallin’ turned out to be extra special and was subsequently mastered at the world famous Abbey Road studios as the Texan’s next single:
I recently launched a Patreon page where I’m releasing monthly Tom Petty covers. Why? Because it’s SO MUCH FUN. Haha. I let the patrons decide what songs to cover. Free Fallin’ turned out extra good. The song is hallowed ground for me, so I wanted to do it right. I’m so proud of it. Plus, it got mastered at Abbey Road! So, it has a little extra magic in there. Recording and releasing on Stevie Van Zandt’s ‘Wicked Cool’ label since 2018, Hamilton’s last album ‘1221’ was the culmination of a year long single-a-month project that saw collaboration with the likes of Chuck Prophet and Bob Schneider among others:I’m thrilled to have my “1221” album selected as an Official Record Store Day 2022 release! It will be available exclusively on sky blue vinyl, in record stores across America, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Taylor Swift is the Record Store Day Ambassador this year. Pretty crazy to know that “1221” is on her radar. And finally, Hamilton is able to play some of these new songs on the road, next appearing in the U.K. over summer with LeeStock and Maverick festival appearances transplanted from their original 2020 scheduling:
Not only is this year off to a crazy start after the isolation of the past two, the rest of this year is NUTS. I can’t wait to get fully back on tour. Festival dates in the UK. Tour dates in the US and the UK, I’m all booked up through to December… and then, hopefully breaking into Europe early next year. I can’t wait! Ryan Hamilton has been hailed by Spin magazine as one of the ‘Best 35 lesser-known artists of the last 35 years’ Free Fallin’ is released on all digital platforms on ‘Wicked Cool’ records, March 4, 2022
