BAD PRESS follows three previous albums – Pick Up the Microphone (2010) Slippin’ Up (2013) and Wake & Break (2016) – each of which earned attention and acclaim from national press and BBC Radio 1Xtra and cultivated legions of fans within the vibrant reggae, ska, and festival scenes, drawn by an intelligent approach to songwriting and the heartfelt and captivating lyrics.

As often seen in the roots of reggae and ska, the message in the lyrics is both politicised and agitated. It’s a trait that has epitomised the previous albums and continues with BAD PRESS. As Skiddle noted, “What stands out is the paradox between heavy political commentary and the boisterous rocksteady bass and supporting guitar, emanating both a warmth and a declaration of peace.”

CAPTAIN ACCIDENT creates his unique blend of roots reggae, ska, and rocksteady at his studio in Cardiff, a sound that is then transformed to the live stage with the help of five exceptional musicians. Through numerous festival appearances which include Glastonbury, Bestival, Wilderness, Boomtown and the Secret Garden Party, and extensive touring of the UK and Europe, the live show has become one of the most infectious and thrill-inducing on the circuit.

The Captain and his band were handpicked by the legendary Toots & The Maytals to support on a run of UK dates in 2016 and impressed the reggae masters to such an extent that they were invited to perform as full tour support in 2017 and 2018, playing such eminent venues as London Barbican Theatre, Manchester Academy and Brighton Dome. They have also shared stages with many of the most recognisable names in reggae and ska including Suggs, who has been known to invite himself onstage to sing with the band, Neville Staple, The Skints, Less Than Jake, The Toasters, Aswad, The Skatalites and Fishbone.
