With Tongues

The King’s Parade have released the video for their new single ‘Mother Tongue’, which is the latest song to be taken from the London quartet’s new EP Haze.

The video premiered with The Independent who described their sound, “It’s alt-soul melding classic blues influences with more of a modern pop vibe.”

The video captures the band performing their lush slice of alt-soul in a cavernous space as misty smoke billows around them.

Speaking of the single The King’s Parade say, “‘Mother Tongue’ is about realising you’re losing touch with where you came from. You haven’t necessarily changed as a person but your ambitions and ideals have. It’s always difficult to get the balance right between moving forward and sticking to your roots. Ultimately, the person you were will always be within you and it’s important to be aware of that.”

‘Mother Tongue’ follows the release of the EP’s title track, which has seen the band receive high profile support from BBC 6Music, BBC Introducing, Wonderland, Alternative Press and many more.
The London quartet bridge classic blues and carefully crafted pop, similar in tone to the likes of Alabama Shakes, The Black Keys and Leon Bridges. The Haze EP also finds the band incorporating notes of Americana in ‘Not Yet’, while ‘Of Stone’ is rich in groove-laden blues-rock.
The band have previously sold out headline shows at both London’s Hoxton Bar & Kitchen and Oslo and also held a residency at the legendary Ronnie Scott’s. They’ve recently become a big live draw in Germany and have sold out headline shows across the country.

The King’s Parade are playing a number of festivals this summer. Having already played a series of sets at Cornbury Festival and The Walled Garden this year, the band will play Secret Garden Party on July 22nd and Smoked & Uncut on July 23rd. Full details can be found below:
