Vexxes Head For Home

Leeds Alt Rockers Vexxes have unveiled another of their mini-anthems taken from debut EP ‘Common Ground’. ‘Lead Us Home’ is one of the first tracks written by the quartet, with vocalist Tom Fieldhouse saying of the video: “With it being such an energetic track, it would have been far easier to throw together another generic performance-based video. Instead we spent a few weeks bouncing ideas back and forth developing a storyboard for a kind of short film. The epic scenery just seemed like a more fitting way to match the size of the song”.

Vexxes (completed by guitarist Max Oliver, drummer Shreedhan Vaidya and newly added bassist Sam Whittle) are giving their all to avoid getting stuck in the “hell of a daily grind”. Going against the grain of the ‘safe route’ by continuing to pursue their musical aspirations in this new project, with Fieldhouse states that: “Between us, we’ve played everything from large venues and concert halls, to squats and youth hostels around mainland Europe. The feeling you get when you see people singing your songs back to you is so amazing; it’s addictive. Also, who doesn’t want to be in a band, touring and playing every night?! We’re in a massive digital age of music, some people say it’s oversaturated and that live music is ‘dead’ – but we just think it’s really exciting!”

Boasting a penchant for big, driving tunes, Vexxes debut E.P Common Ground is a collection of rousing anthems; solid guitar licks locked in tight with driving rhythms to create a platform for Tom’s soaring vocal melodies. The vocalist opines; “We are influenced by all sorts of different bands, but the ‘common ground’ for us is definitely hooky, melodic anthems with subtle heavy elements. For all of us, it’s the first time we’ve been a part of something where we’re completely happy with what we’re actually producing. Previously there’s always been that little bit of wishfulness in the backs of our minds, eating away at us to be doing something better.”
