Touch This

Canadian alt-rockers, July Talk are exclusively streaming their new album Touch ahead of its release this Friday September 9th. The album is premiered on Exclaim, Canada’s biggest music publication who say, “The ten new songs hear the band attempting to bring their explosive, visceral live shows into recorded form, offering listeners a sense of real connection and an antidote to a mirror and screen obsessed world.”

The band are also cover stars on this month’s issue.

The band have been taking North America by storm and are set to play three UK dates this month, with their London show on September 15th now sold-out. They will be supported in the UK by Blackwaters. The dates are part of their tour across North America and Europe, which also sees the band support Nothing But Thieves on selected US dates.

July Talk’s raucous lead single ‘Push + Pull’ has spent 12 weeks at the top of the Canadian Alternative Chart. The video for the track has had over 430K views and over 640K streams on Spotify. Across the ten tracks on Touch, the band explore a number of genres merging them into an edgy and stylish new wave of alt-rock making it a gloriously emotive and stirring collection of songs

Bassist Josh Warburton recently told Exclaim! that the band tried out a variety of styles — writing “country tunes, straight-up pop tunes, all kids of different variations of music that we love” — but ultimately knew what direction they wanted to take things in after hitting on ‘Push + Pull’ and ‘Strange Habit’.

“There’s danceability but there’s also this darkness,” guitarist and singer Peter Dreimanis explained. “The songs all had to contain a certain amount of darkness while still moving your muscles uncontrollably.”

The band are a formidable live act and performed ‘Push + Pull’ live on TV at the iheartradio/MMVA broadcast in Toronto, with the group showing solidarity with the LGBT community post-Orlando in an electrifying performance that featured Leah Fay in rainbow eye make-up, weeping glitter tears. July Talk will thrill UK audiences with shows in Glasgow, Manchester and London this month.
