Derbyshire’s leading lights These Wicked Rivers have shared the full line up for their upcoming 10th Birthday Celebration Show with Leicester rockers SKAM announced as “party starters”. They join an impressive bill featuring neon starlets The Hot Damn! and very special guests Bad Touch at KKs Steelmill on Saturday 12th October.
The evening will be compèred by Planet Rock’s Darren Redick and the band promise an unforgettable evening featuring multiple special guests who have been part of their journey over the last decade.
Speaking of the announcement drummer Dan Southall enthuses:
“We’re delighted to have SKAM joining us to celebrate 10 years of Peace, Love & Lampshades. As a band the SKAM boys have always embodied everything positive within the scene – and we’ve shared many stages over the years so we felt they are the perfect addition to an already incredible line up.”
Guitarist Arran Day adds:
“This will not be your usual These Wicked Rivers show; we’re bringing on special guests throughout our set that have been a part of this incredible journey to date. We’re so excited to testify with you all – if you’re a Rivers family member this is a show NOT TO BE MISSED.
We’ll see you all at KK’s Steel Mill on October 12th, wear your best and let’s celebrate the power of rock and roll together.”
The band have also shared their take on The Rolling Stones’ classic ‘Play with Fire’.
Keyboard player Rich Wilson remarks:
“We’re all big fans of The Rolling Stones so when the opportunity came up to do an acoustic cover we all had a few ideas of which songs might work. ‘Play With Fire’ was on a few of our lists so we agreed on that. I’ve always found it to have a hypnotic melody that draws you in and before you know it the songs over. It’s the kind of song that you can strip back but still keep a nice groove going and with John’s lovely deep vocal it suits us perfectly.”
The track was recorded at the Old Cider Press studios with Dave Draper at the helm.

Following a rapturous reception to new album ‘Force of Nature’ (released March 2024), the band has embarked on its busiest touring schedule to date, playing to sell out crowds across France, Germany, The Netherlands and the UK.
Established in 2014, These Wicked Rivers are Derby’s entry to the new wave of rock and roll that is sweeping across the United Kingdom. Drawing influence from the well of rock legends and blues greats, the band have made a huge impact since their inception with their unique brand of blues-infused modern rock steadily picking up plaudits for their gutsy live performances across the UK. Sophomore album ‘Force of Nature’ was released in March 2024 to critical acclaim, landing the band a number 3 in the UK Rock charts.
Collectively These Wicked Rivers are aiming for the top. Described by Classic Rock Magazine as “The sound of what might’ve happened if Clutch got a bit stoned with Audioslave and Zakk Wylde – and then jammed late into the night”, the band blend subtle blues touches with a hard rock edge, adding soulful vocals to create a sound that is as dramatic as it is exhilarating.
