Fresh off the release of their critically acclaimed album The House Beyond The Fires, Macclesfield’s finest, The Virginmarys, unveil the brand-new video for fan favourite “My Nettle”, out now.
The high-energy track, already a standout on their latest record, is now getting a full visual push, hitting even harder with its deeply personal and explosive energy. Driven by searing guitars and raw emotion, “My Nettle” captures the beauty and pain of loving someone whose authenticity cuts through the noise of a world where honesty feels increasingly rare. The new video perfectly channels the raw, feral spirit that defines The Virginmarys, delivering a striking visual to one of the most anthemic and emotionally charged songs on The House Beyond The Fires.
Frontman Ally Dickaty states, “My Nettle is a love song about a fearless writer, journalist and poet who uses words as weapons and truth as armour. In an age where honesty is less valuable and poetry obsolete, her authenticity and conviction have been inspiring me for the last two years and though her words sting my skin from time to time, I’m proud that she’s my love.”
Following the success of The House Beyond The Fires, The Virginmarys hit the road in April 2025 for their biggest ever headline tour, covering 18 dates across the UK and Ireland.
Known for their incendiary live energy, the band will be bringing their explosive set to some of the best independent venues in the country, with support from Kit Trigg and The Empty Page on select dates.
The response has been phenomenal so far, with Leicester already sold out and several more dates on low tickets.
Frontman Ally Dickaty says:“This tour is a massive celebration for us. We’re proud to be playing such iconic independent venues – these places are vital to the spirit of live music, and it’s an honour to bring The House Beyond The Fires to every corner of the UK and Ireland.”
After selling out of all original vinyl in record time, The Virginmarys have added a selection of special new formats to their store ahead of their UK and Ireland tour. Fans can now pick up a brand new Purple Vinyl edition and a Glow-In-The-Dark Gatefold Vinyl as part of the regular range. A limited number of the Glow-In-The-Dark editions come with a hidden message from the band written in UV ink, along with a UV torch to reveal it. For the first time ever, the band are also releasing a limited run of Purple Cassette tapes, giving fans a new way to experience The House Beyond The Fires. These exclusive formats are available now while stocks last at www.thevirginmarys.com.
The House Beyond The Fires is the band’s first album since they reformed as a two piece in 2021, teaming up with Dave Draper to produce the drums and guitars (Terrorvision, The Wildhearts) and Karl Daniel Lidén from Sweden for the mix and mastering – an instant go-to after hearing his work (Dozer, Greenleaf) and this approach has certainly paid off.
Ally continues, “We have always been renowned for the power and energy of our live performances and strived to recreate that intensity through the production and mix of the records. I feel like we’ve really turned a corner with this album”
