Jack J Hutchinson Announces New Album for 2024 & Releases First Single & Video

Resilient, London-based, Fedora-sportin’ British Blues-Rocker, Jack J Hutchinson (described by Classic Rock Magazine as “a real rock contender”) releases his first single ‘Constellations’ from his brand-new 10-track album, ‘Battles’ and shares its accompanying video.

Planet Rock praised his “… gritty, honest take on blues rock [which] comes with a flourish of biker steel”, whilst Guitarist Magazine were impressed by how “Growling vocals combine with raunch ‘n’ roll acoustic and electric guitars.”

Jack’s latest album, ‘Battles’, due for release 9th February2024 was recorded at Momentum Studios in Plymouth and produced and co-written with Josiah J Manning (Kris Barras Band, Inglorious). “Working with Josiah was an eye-opener,” Jack enthuses. “Josiah encouraged me to write meaningful lyrics more upliftingly, and that’s what this new music is. It felt like unlocking who I am as an artist.”

“‘Constellations’ was the first track written for the album,” Jack explains, “Last year, I was in Los Angeles performing my first shows in America and wrote the verses and chorus in my hotel room and in a soundcheck before one of the shows. It originally had a slightly slower, more bluesy, vibe, but when I sent it to producer Josiah Manning, he transformed it into a three-minute, in-your-face rocker! It’s straight out of the blocks and doesn’t let up until the final note hits.

“The song is about being positive and sticking to your guns, even when everyone around you is trying to pull you down. It’s got one of those ‘punch the air’ choruses and will be a blast to play live!”

‘Constellations’ hits you right from the get-go with powerful rock guitar and Jack’s impassioned vocals (complete with concert-style lighting in the fast-paced 4K video, directed by Kris Barras at Ignite Productions UK). The three-piece band featuring Phil Wilson on drums and Charlie Rachael Kay on bass, create a tsunami of sound, with driving underlying rhythm, plus Jack’s mighty power solo on lead guitar.

Clever, feeling-filled, anthemic lyrics, of defiance and rebel strength in the face of adversity, fit in with the themes of struggles and resilience found throughout the  parent album ‘Battles’ too: “Stand tall, I’ve found my better days, Dig deep, I’ve learned to walk away, Broken, bruised, With no battles left to wage, Don’t try to tear me down, I’ve found a better day.”

‘Battles’ â€”sees Hutchinson at his most exposed, and is charged with the power of catharsis and purging darkness and hurt. But doing so, gives Jack more strength than any record previously. It’s more honest, in its songwriting, lyrics and guitar playing. It’s about telling a story with the guitar and the voice.
