Speaking about the song, the band explain: “‘Lost Cause’ is about toxic codependency and the vampiric nature of consuming someone emotionally. Survival through shared trauma and constantly needing more from someone else to fill an internal void. It’s escapism and implosion all at once. The twin ouroboros.”

Where recent single ‘Nice Day 4 It’ embraced the absurdity of self-destruction with a colossal, euphoric chorus, ‘Lost Cause’ heads somewhere considerably more intimate. This is desire as dependency.
