SEVENDUST STOP IT

US rock/metal group Sevendust have unveiled a new music video for song “Medicated”, taken from their twelfth studio album, All I See Is War, released today via Rise Records. The song was inspired by the current opioid crisis.

“The subject matter is a bit different,” explains guitarist John Connolly. “Porcupine Tree’s Fear Of A Blank Planet is arguably one of my favourite records. The idea is similar to ‘Anesthetize.’ These pharmaceutical companies have made it so everyone is hooked on something. You don’t even know why you’re on these medications. All of last year’s horrific suicides were linked to a pill. Think about the opioid crisis. It asks, ‘Can we just stop?’” The video for the song can be seen here:

“Medicated” follows in the footsteps of the recently released “Not Original” and debut single “Dirty.” The first single continues to climb steadily up US active rock charts, sitting in the Top 20 at present. The video for “Dirty” has been viewed over 2.2 million times since it was released in mid-March.

All I See Is War has been collecting critical acclaim with Associated Press boldly stating, “There are some people who sneer at hard rockers Sevendust, expressing dislike for the metal band for its lighter tones and stylistic changes. To which we respectfully say: blow it out your ears.” Rock Sound write, “impeccably slick… the quality of these songs remain undeniable.” Kerrang! adds, “a surprisingly contemporary return,” praising frontman Lajon Witherspoon as “the velvet-throated singer sounding every bit as impressive as he did at the turn of the millennium.” Total Guitar laud the band for “consistently strong albums, packing heavy hooks, soulful vocal harmonies, and inventive rhythms.” Powerplay awarded it a 9/10 score, declaring it a “masterpiece of sound… emphasising the band’s artistry to its full potential.”

Released today, the album is available in various physical configurations via the band’s merch store at www.sevendust.com as well as via all digital retailers and in stores. Recorded last autumn, it was produced by Michael “Elvis” Baskette, known for his work with Alter Bridge, Tremonti, Slash, and more.

Sevendust are currently headlining across the USA, with special guests Memphis May Fire, Fire From The Gods, and Madame Mayhem. Expect to see the band in the UK later this year.
