Mike Ross Announces His Eye-Opening Autumn UK Solo Tour
Hot on the heels of a full-band tour throughout May, multi-talented musician Mike Ross is proud to announce a UK-wide run of solo shows, playing intimate versions of tracks from his 12-track latest album ‘Third Eye Open’ as well as selected cuts from his extensive back catalogue.
The 9-date tour — in association with Twenty Music Roots — starts in Brecon at the Mid-Wales R&B Club (09/09), then swoops down to London to The Bull’s Head, Barnes high street (10/09), thence to The Six Six Bar, Cambridge (11/09), The Hot Box at Chelmsford (12/09), Barnoldswick Music & Arts Centre (14/09), Shinty Club. The Isle of Brute, (16/09) and finally winds up at Prohibition, Newcastle on 17th September. Two further dates/venues are to be announced, so check Mike’s website at https://www.mikerossmusic.co.uk/ for updates and further details.
Mike himself explains the motivation that sparked this solo tour: “I opened several of the shows on my May tour with a solo set on my 12-string acoustic, playing some songs from ‘Third Eye Open’ that weren’t in the band set. They were really well received, so I thought: why not do a full tour this way, give the audiences a different perspective on this album?”
“‘Third Eye Open’ is a real bone-shaker of a record: the fattest, nastiest, chunkiest thing I’ve ever done!” says Mike.
But don’t just take his word for it: Listen to the rave reviews he’s been garnering…Mike Ross “hits the listener like the proverbial musical freight train…” proclaimed Get Ready To Rock. “Ross isn’t messing about…” agreed Blues Enthused, whilst Indie Band Guru described him as “a sharp-tongued observer of modern life… An artist who continues to break free of genre limitations.”
Meanwhile, Maverick Magazine praised how Mike was “powerful at merging blues, country & folk…” whilst Planet Rock called his music “hypnotic blues that revel with dark menace.”
“Ross can create magic with his guitar,” said Indie Band Guru, “his way with words is equally impressive. He uses them in various ways, but all to stunning effect.”
If you want to hear Mike’s cutting-edge, razor-sharp latest rock-infused material, plus some old favourites, in an intimate setting, with the extra nuance that provides different takes on his new material, check out his September solo tour and book early to avoid disappointment.
