Take one of the most promising rock ‘n’ roll bands around, put them in the hallowed Rockfield Studios for a week with a little guidance from producer Nick Brine (Stone Roses, Oasis), and what do you get? ROLLA and their critically acclaimed debut EP ‘Nothing Less Than Everything’, which shot straight to #1 on the iTunes Album and Alternative Charts. But that’s not all! ROLLA’s friend James Gwynne was on hand to capture the entire process, his footage subsequently edited by Mamucium Design to make the new behind-the-scenes documentary ‘Nothing Less Than Rockfield’.
‘Nothing Less Than Rockfield’ captures a band on the cusp of greatness. It’s all there: laying down riffs and beats, the unexpected moments of inspiration, the camaraderie of five young men living out their dream, right through to a roar of approval when hearing ‘Karma Chameleon’ and some of the worst pool playing you’ll ever see in your life. It’s a snapshot of a time that ROLLA will never forget… even if their beer consumption suggests that some moments might have been forgotten the very next morning.
But when that’s all said – who better to introduce the film than ROLLA themselves? They reflected:
“We have always documented our time as a band. Wherever we go, we take dozens of pictures or videos of the various cities we so luckily get to play and visit, so the idea of filming the whole recording process and experience of being at Rockfield just seemed like the perfect idea.
We wanted it to be on a bigger production scale to what we’ve just done on our phones before though, after all it’s our debut EP and it’s fucking Rockfield man! So we had our friend James Gwynne come along with us to capture every waking moment of the week. The guys over at Mamucium Design have done a great job of going through the hours and hours of footage to create the amazing film they have.
Just having something so intimate we can share with our fans and allow the doors to be opened into such intimate sessions is unreal, we hope it gives our fans something to keep rewatching and enjoy forever. And I guess it’s also something we as a band, five lads, can look back on and reminisce over the coming years, back to these early days and will hopefully give us a visualisation of our progression.
We would also like to give a huge shout out to everybody involved in the recording and promotion of this EP, and of course Rockfield for having us at their legendary studios. It has been belting to have opportunities like we have had on this EP and here’s to many many more, bigger and better releases! PEACE, LOVE & ROCK N ROLLA.”
Naturally Rockfield was only the beginning.
