TEEN ROCK TRIO RIFF WOOD UNVEIL NEW ALBUM BUTTERFLY IN BLACK AND WHITE
PRODUCED BY 3X GRAMMY®-WINNING PRODUCER
ROB CAVALLO
FEATURING 6 NEW SONGS, INCLUDING NEW SINGLE
| Fast-rising teenage rock trio Riff Wood unveil their highly-anticipated sophomore album, Butterfly In Black And White, out now via Giant Music – listen HERE. Recorded with 3X GRAMMY®-winning producer Rob Cavallo [Green Day, My Chemical Romance, Paramore], the project solidifies their status as one of alternative rock’s most promising new acts. The album came together after Cavallo reached out directly to the trio after discovering their performance videos online, where the band has amassed more than 60 million views. For Carson Groves (vocals/guitar), Hyrum Russon (vocals/guitar) and Shredder (drums) – best friends who grew up covering Green Day at just 11 years old – the moment was a surreal full-circle moment. That connection ultimately led to Cavallo producing Butterfly In Black And White, bringing together the band’s raw, youthful energy with the perspective of one of rock’s most influential producers. “Butterfly In Black And White is about how life can look completely different depending on how you see it,” the band explains. “There are always going to be highs and lows, good things and bad things, and sometimes you need both to really appreciate where you are. Every song comes at that idea from a different place, whether it’s relationships, insecurity, anxiety or just growing up and trying to figure things out. We wanted the album to show that even when something feels negative in the moment, there can still be another side to it.” The 13-track album features six brand-new songs, including new single “Down To Nowhere,” alongside previously released tracks “Run It,” “Butterfly In Black And White,” “Beyond a Tree,” “Shy Guy,” “And Now,” “PUNK” and “Manufactured Tragedy.” The release continues a breakout year for Riff Wood, who recently took Butterfly In Black And White on the road this past summer, marking their biggest headline tour to date across the UK and North America. The band will return to the UK later this month for three exclusive shows at Rough Trade Nottingham on September 29th, Rough Trade London (Denmark Street) on September 30th, and Rough Trade Bristol on October 1st. Riff Wood have built serious momentum online and on the road, turning viral clips and packed shows into a rapidly growing fanbase. The trio first started playing together at age 11 before claiming victory at the Utah Battle of the Bands as high school freshmen and breaking through with their debut album Tough Luck. The project was powered by fan favourites “I Won’t” (2.4M streams) and “Blur” (3.6M streams), the latter of which exploded across TikTok and streaming platforms. Now, with more than 60 million TikTok views and a sophomore album made alongside one of rock’s most celebrated producers, Riff Wood are proving that their next chapter is only getting louder. |
