REVIEW: THUNDERMOTHER – DIRTY AND DIVINE (2025)

Published:

Thundermother’s latest album, “Dirty & Divine,” released on February 7, 2025, is a testament to the band’s enduring swagger—a vital quality in hard rock that’s either innate or absent. With this record, Thundermother undeniably proves they’ve got it.

From the opening track, “So Close,” the band’s sass is palpable. The song sets the tone for an album that’s both electrifying and unapologetic. “Can’t Put Out The Fire” reinforces their unstoppable drive, making it clear they’ve got things to accomplish.

“Speaking of the Devil” features a solo so dirty you’ll feel the need for hand sanitizer afterward. The guitar work on “Feeling Alright” carries a Thin Lizzy vibe, adding a classic touch to this anthem of indulgence.

Vocalist Linnea Vikström Egg channels the power of Lzzy Hale on the standout track “Take The Power,” delivering a performance that’s both commanding and exhilarating. Throughout the album, there’s a hedonistic, live-for-today attitude, most evident in “I Left My License In The Future.”

The songs on “Dirty & Divine” are superbly crafted, boasting catchy hooks and undeniable class. “Dead Or Alive” exemplifies this with its compelling composition. “Can You Feel It” carries an AC/DC-like vibe, reminding us that a bit of that swagger is essential in hard rock.

“Bright Eyes” transports listeners back to the cold soundscapes of 1986, while “American Adrenaline” is as exuberant as it gets—a real “Ballroom Blitz” that Sweet would be proud of, tailor-made for live performances.

The album shines a light on the band’s love for music. While the themes may feel familiar, “Dirty & Divine” could have been released at any point since the ’80s and still sounded amazing.
