REVIEW: CLEAN LINES – NUISANCE EP (2025)

Published:

Seattle seasoned rock’n’rollers Clean Lines who comprise of Tyler Brey (lead vocals), Josh Dale (guitar vocals), Steve E Nix (guitar vocals), Ricky Gonzalez (bass) and Nick Shultz (drums) have graced groups such as The Briefs, Circle Jerks, Geraldine Fibbers, and Boss Martians and opened for bands like Mean Jeans, Tommy & The Commies, Me First And The Gimme Gimmes and The Kids. They release a new four track EP `Nuisance` this month.

This extended play opens with title track `Nuisance` and in its brief one hundred and eleven seconds of life it packs so much in. We have a rolling drumbeat leading us in, thumping bass, a short guitar solo and vocals that exude a sense of enthusiasm and excitement and so far away from being annoying, that the title appears to suggest. We enjoy a real rock out with `So Sharp` which a lot of metal / rock bands would be proud to have in their setlist. The track seems to reflect on the depressing times, which I’m sure we all have experienced, when we get decked out but find we`ve no where to go.

`Want More, Got Some` opens with a mischievous laugh before we delight in a fairly long instrumental jam intro in the style of The Glitter Band which lasts nearly half the length of the song. This pounding thumping foot-tapper will have you singing along with the infectious strap line before the number concludes and fades. This four tracker concludes with `In The Way` which races along, a final “heads down, no nonsense boogie” to close out on.

Clean Line`s `Nuisance` EP runs at just under twelve minutes so there’s no excuse not to give it a blast, hey you could even listen to it five times in an hour!! This four tracker gives a flavour of what this quintet are capable of musically and if you happen to visit The Emerald City or Coffee Capital of the World, there a band worth catching.
