REVIEW: BUSTER SHUFFLE – TOGETHER (2025

Published:

The beauty of Buster Shuffle is their simplicity. Every song is basically a knees-up. You can sing along to every one by the second chorus—and that’s exactly how they want it.

There’s a skill to this. You can’t resist “Shows How Little You Know,” and Chas and Dave themselves would be proud of the piano barroom fun of “Masterplan.” And the master plan here? “I’ll make some money and move to sunny old Spain.”

Good luck to them.

The chanting at the start of “Take A Pill” was recorded at a gig, and for all the knockabout fun here, there’s a serious message.

Mostly, though, it’s just good-time, very British ska-punk, and you just couldn’t imagine a US band singing “Waiting For You.”

The title track is as warm and contented as can be, and we all need some of that right now.

Some Chuck Berry-style guitar ushers in “I Don’t Mind What I See (Jack’s Song),” which suggests that you “don’t lose your faith in bands that stay out late and drink herbal tea”—sound advice, really.

“Knocking At 112” looks back at childhood friendships and wishes for more, while “If I Were Wise” takes on adulthood with the same positivity.

“One In Ten” delivers another serious message, but it’s balanced by the upbeat “Thanks” and “View For A Fool,” which is as timeless as it gets.

Buster Shuffle do it right. They have their message, but they’re fun and accessible. We’re all in this “Together,” and that is just fine.
