REVIEW: BLITZKRIEG – BLITZKRIEG (2024)

Published:

Those two massive tits Romesh And Rob were on telly the other day at Download Festival singing with Bleed From Within.

I I know this because a mate of mine watched it (I am considering whether we can stay friends).

Metal does not need these gimmicks and this fake stuff on Sky. It is doing just fine, thank you.

Do you think that Blitzkrieg cares? No. They are writing “The Spider” with its slashing solos, the heavier affair, “Dragon’s Eye,” and the 80s-infused “If I Told You.” They are rehashing the Kennedy assassination and Area 51 in a very Saxon-like way.

Blitzkrieg has been doing this stuff since 1981 (and Metallica have covered them), and while you would wager that it has not changed much in that time, this is not a Maiden gallop from 1982. Instead, “Above The Law” is more mid-paced as it excoriates the greedy, and if “I Am His Voice” slashes, it is fairly modern.

Brian Ross is a metal lifer. He has had other gigs, but this is his home, and his strong delivery makes “The Night He Came Home” special and the near-prog stylings of “Aphrodite’s Kiss” an epic closing statement.

It is in keeping with the rest of the album, though that is expertly done.

Not lightning fast, instead, “Blitzkrieg” relies on its skill and is a fine record from a band who obviously still has that fire you need.
