Andreas Moe is a Swedish five-time platinum-certified singer/songwriter and has written for numerous artists. He has a new EP `All Our Worries Are Poems – Pt 1` due this month an uplifting collection of guitar-pop musings written during the troubled times of the pandemic.
This extended play opens with ‘Rise & Fall’ which is a delicate heartfelt acoustic track with some delightfully intricate guitar chords allowing the fragile vocals to float atop. There a more mid paced offering with ‘Hey Lulu’ a song about a friendship that despite distance, time and circumstances retains that special something.
‘Holding On’ is a number that the singer says is about letting go and breaking free from things that aren`t good for us. The musical backdrop builds as it progresses and becomes quite anthemic and fairly energising. This four track release closes with ‘Wholeheartedly’ which again has a slight anthemic texture. At times it becomes quite dreamy and mesmeric with some rich guitar chords and hand claps that become quite compelling.
I have to say I thought ‘Rise & Fall’ was an outstanding song and there was so much to enjoy on this extended play. This young singer-songwriter has a rich and varied vocal range and is an exceptional talent, but I felt that there wasn`t enough variety in what was on offer here to showcase this. It would seem that there is a full album to follow at some stage and I look forward to hearing what is presented on that release. If you’re a fan of artists such as Jeff Buckley then this is a must listen.
