OUR MAN IN THE FIELD RELEASES ALBUM AHEAD OF TOUR

Published:

Our Man In The Field (aka Alex Ellis) will release ‘The Road’ as a brand new single on 9th February, immediately prior to a tour that starts the following day. The song is not included on OMITF’s recently released second album, ‘Gold On The Horizon’.

“‘The Road’ is about our relationship with success and how successful people are often very fragile and get treated badly after excelling at something, just because they have flaws like the rest of us in other parts of their lives,” explains Ellis. “It could be sports people like George Best or Paul Gascoigne, celebrities like Caroline Flack, musicians like Whitney Houston or Amy Winehouse – there are many examples. I think it’s a myth that someone who is good at art or sports or singing should be held to a higher standard than everyone else – no one signs up for that. It isn’t about people accused of misconduct, and I don’t mean in any way to condone any bad behaviour. It’s about those people whose vulnerability is preyed upon until breaking point. We should all do our best – that’s all anyone can do – and we should all know from our own lives that often your best isn’t enough. There’s an eagerness to see someone fall, perhaps it gives us comfort for our own failures. I’m guilty of consuming information that is none of my business, so we can’t keep blaming the press for it. If we didn’t read it, they wouldn’t write it.”
