NOELINE HOFFMAN TOURS

Published:

Emerging Canadian singer, songwriter and musician Noeline Hofmann released her debut EP, Purple Gas, last October via La Honda Records. Consisting of seven songs, including the title track, ‘Rodeo Junkies‘, ‘August‘ and ‘Lightning in July (Prairie Fire)‘, the EP finds Hofmann’s unique sound and perspective shining through, and her voice on full display.

Hofmann will be making her debut in the UK and Ireland this summer when she joins Zach Bryan for 3 shows at Phoenix Park and 2 shows at BST Hyde Park, in addition to also supporting Turnpike Troubadours in Manchester, Birmingham and London. Bryan, who for the first time cut another artist’s song – Hofmannn’s ‘Purple Gas’ – on his latest album has previously shared, “I have never covered another musician on an album and it’s because I was waiting on someone to write a song like this. Noeline resonates like Gillian Welch to me and Gillian is one of my favorite musicians to ever live.”

Speaking on the EP, Hofmann shares, “Purple gas is dyed fuel sold at a lower tax rate to farmers and ranchers for agricultural use in Alberta, Canada, where I’m from. It’s similar to off-road fuel in the U.S. and you need a special license plate to burn it on public roads.” She continues, “The title of this project is a metaphor. In my mind, purple gas, as a commodity, symbolizes resilience and the rural attitude of where I’m from. The songs on this project have been the petrol in my tank, fueling every step taken while I run after my north stars and follow the constellation’s lead off the beaten path. They will continue to be on the next stretch of ground that will unravel with their release.

The songs on this project capture a notably raw and formative period in my life, from ages 18 to 20. It was equally as gorgeous as it was heart-wrenching. I lived and wrote most of these pieces at 19, before I had ever been on tour and before much of the life I know now. I’ll never quite be the same girl who wrote those songs again. The project is a time capsule.

Poised for a breakout year, the 21-year-old artist has also been praised for her “mature and haunting voice, and an innate knack for storytelling” (Whiskey Riff), named one of Holler Country’s “New Country & Americana Artists for 2024,” and made her Grand Ole Opry debut last September.
