Native Construct Go To The Opera

…And on the road with Between The Buried And Me

After completing a USA headlining run this past summer, progressive metal outfit Native Construct is ready to embark on another North American trek, set to kick off November 18th in Cincinnati, OH. Featuring Between The Buried And Me, Enslaved, and Intronaut on the bill, this tour package is a must-see for all prog music fans! See below for dates.

In anticipation of this upcoming tour, Native Construct has launched a new video today, which showcases front-man Robert Edens’ incredible vocal range: a cover of Les Misérables’ “Empty Chairs at Empty Tables”.

Myles Yang (guitar) comments: “I’m sure you can hear the musical theatre influence in the music ofNative Construct. We’re big fans of it, and this is a tune from an old favorite of ours, Les Misérables. I did this arrangement for Rob to sing on back in our freshman year of college, just for fun. We did a little recording of it in a dorm room, and that was that.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago — our guitarist, Poh Hock, was competing in the .strandberg* Guitar Competition. A portion of the competition was decided by popular vote, and we called on our fans for assistance. Turns out we have a great little community going here; we received an outstanding amount of support, and Poh Hock ended up taking first place in the competition. So, as a token of our appreciation, we decided to dust off this old arrangement and make a new and improved version of it for everyone to enjoy.

We recorded all new vocals from Rob, and he also did a fresh mix and master of the whole thing. And Max Harchik (bass) directed, shot, and edited a video of it all, for your viewing pleasure. Thanks again, guys; hope you like it!”

Native Construct will be touring soon in support of their recently released debut full-length, Quiet World. Hailed as a “masterpiece” by HeavyBlogIsHeavy.com (5/5), Quiet World was largely self-produced and written between 2011 and 2013, when the individual band members weren’t busy with their studies at the Berklee College of Music. What began as jam sessions simply for fun eventually turned into a full-fledged musical endeavor. Having already made their mark on the Billboard charts (#56 Hard Music Albums Chart; #85 New Artist Chart) in addition to securing multiple national tours on this first album, it is anything but quiet in Native Construct‘s world.
