At Maximum Volume Music we love to champion bands throughout the years. As far back as December 2019 we made Romano Nervoso Band Of The Day.
Now the Italian-Belgian band are releasing their new album this week. and we are thrilled to be premiering the next single from it.
Speaking of the song, Romano says: “The vocals and the Farfisa on ‘Children of the Sun’ were performed by Nicole Laurenne, the singer of American garage band The Darts who I met at a festival. I asked her if she was down to record this song with us and was psyched when she agreed. It’s about Sicilians, people from the south of Italy. My roots. It’s about all the ‘clichés’ you can say about them. Things like, ‘they don’t like to work’, ‘they always eat’, ‘they love fiestas’, ‘they are mobsters’… Sadly, we have this reputation… but I’m really proud of it, ‘cos it’s almost true.”
In just a few short years Romano Nervoso and his Italian-Belgian band of ne’er-do-wells have torn up the Italian music scene at full tilt boogie. From local bars and taverns to some of the biggest concert venues and festivals across Europe, the undisputed ‘Godfather of Spaghetti Rock’, with his charismatic onstage presence and unmistakable style, is without question a worthy addition to any venue.
With four studio albums already under his belt and having turned up the heat opening for artists such as Johnny Hallyday, Triggerfinger, The Datsuns, The Sonics, and King Khan & The Shrines, the time has come for Romano Nervoso to take centre stage once again with the anticipated arrival of new album, From Villarosa to Rotherham.
Divided into two parts, the first features songs in Italian in salute to his hometown, whereas part two leaves Southern Italy behind and heads to Rotherham, for six tracks in English, in tribute to his beloved wife who hails from the South Yorkshire town. Written in just under four weeks, From Villarosa to Rotherham is a return to the roots of punk rock. Short, sharp, spontaneous songs delivered in a style that is uniquely his own.
Romano Nervoso’s From Villarosa to Rotherham is released worldwide in 8th March 2024 on Mottow Soundz and can be pre-ordered here.
