Final trailer out now

Swedish extreme tech-metal pioneers MESHUGGAH are in the homestretch of the release of their eighth album,The Violent Sleep Of Reason. Today, the final trailer where Tomas discusses recording the album live. Check out the video on the Nuclear Blast YouTube channel:

“Kind of looking back at the albums, the music and songs that we grew up with that we really loved in metal were always recorded live and they have that live vibe to it,” comments Tomas Haake. “There is certain energy that comes with recording live compared to recording drums first and fixing whatever need to be fixed so it sounds perfect then recording guitars on top of that. There is nothing wrong in doing it like that but we felt like we wanted to take a step back towards how we were doing things in the early 90’s and kind of go a little old school in that sense. We wanted the challenge that comes with that.”

Order your copy of the album on iTunes and receive “Nostrum” and “Born In Dissonance” as instant grat tracks.

The second single “Nostrum” was released via a 360 lyric video and can be seen on the Nuclear Blast YouTube channel. Drum aficionados can check out an exclusive play through of the song via Modern Drummer.

Rollingstone.com premiered the bands first single “Born In Dissonance” and an exclusive interview with Tomas Haake. The song and interview can be seen exclusively here!

Tomas Haake comments about the album, “Basically, the whole idea of why we chose the title is it kinda connects with the lyrical content of the album. Which is to a fair degree about current events and what you see is going on as far as terrorism today, extremist views on ideals, and religious dogma and the violent implications that you get from being asleep so to speak and not acting/reacting to what is going on in the proper way”

The album was produced by the band and was engineered by Tue Madsen of Puk Studios in Kaerby,Denmark. For the cover, the band once again enlisted Keerych Luminokaya who created the artwork forKoloss and The Ophidian Trek as well as the new images for each of the 7 albums and 3 EP’s featured in the25 Years of Musical Deviance box set.
