Brecon-based skate-rockers Kit Trigg have shared a captivating new video for their track ‘Down To Earth’ ahead of their first headline tour in September. The new single takes on the hot topic of climate change and the need to care for our planet, and is taken from their upcoming EP ‘Free ‘N’ Easy’ set for release 18th September.
With a feel-good riff that Lenny Kravitz would be proud of, laying the foundation for a passionate Beastie Boys-style rant that is sweetly offset by a fully stacked chorus, the track embodies everything that makes Kit Trigg one of the standout rising tides of the modern rock scene. Produced by Darren Jones (Stormzy, Gorillaz, Reef), recorded at Flip Flop Records and mastered at Abbey Road Studios, the track will be available everywhere this Friday 28th August on all streaming platforms.
Speaking of the track, Kit enthuses:
“‘Down To Earth’ was written on a drive between the Brecon Beacons and my ex-hometown of Farnham. I just felt a really soft, peaceful and grounded vibe and started singing what was on my mind and how I felt very down to earth. I spent the whole drive coming up with wordplay about our planet, climate change and wanting to be in touch with nature. The riff came quickly as soon as I got home and the chorus was inspired by early 90’s hiphop.
We have such a sweet deal on this planet, let’s look after what we have!”
One particular line in the song refers to the growing concern about pollution in the world’s oceans, and gave Kit the idea of partnering up with charities close to his heart which will benefit from proceeds raised from a very limited edition “Turtle Tote bag” designed by Kit himself.
“So I’m keeping my cool
But the turtles turning blue
Choking to death
On a bag for life”
Kit explains a little more about the initiative:
“I wanted to partner with the Cornish Seal Sanctuary as I visited them on a surfing trip recently and was really relieved and inspired by the lengths these individuals go to rescue, rehabilitate and rewild the seals back to their natural habitat successfully.
I know climate change is scary and there’s no way we can pretend it’s not happening – there have been wildfires on our doorstep this year and more marine life washing up tangled up in plastic than before. But our ocean is a key component to restoring a healthy atmosphere so we must keep it clean and healthy!
Surfers for Sewage have been campaigning for this and hosting beach marches clearing the coastline of rubbish – this is not only to maintain our human life on this planet, but for the animals too!”
‘Down to Earth’ gives fans the first taste of the new turbo-charged line up – a fresh era for Kit Trigg. Anchored by the charismatic Adam Thorn on bass/backing vocals, and rock-solid Max Rhead on drums/backing vocals, together the trio create what Kit describes as “Pure harmony and freedom; No click. No backing tracks. 3 voices, 5 strings, and the magic of live music.”

The new single sets the scene nicely for what’s to come on upcoming EP ‘Free ‘N’ Easy’, the follow up to critically acclaimed ‘Goin’ for Glory’ – which scored Planet Rock airplay and Classic Rock ‘Track of the Week’ nominations. ‘Free ‘N’ Easy’ will feature the title track and ‘Down To Earth’ alongside fan-favourites ‘Glass Ceiling’, ‘Life Raft’ and the previously released ‘Snake in the Grass’. Having completed multiple tours around the UK this year as special guests to Dan Byrne and Fireheart, before a busy summer festival season including stand-out performances at Maid of Stone, Wildfire and S.O.S Festivals, the trio are set to embark on their first headline tour this September.
The tour, consisting of 6 dates across the UK, sees special guests Honeybadger and Sam Millar take the stage for 3 shows each, culminating in a grand finale at the intimate Music and Arts Centre in Barnoldswick.
Speaking of the upcoming tour dates, Kit gushes:
“We were blown away by how many awesome bands wanted to jump on board our headline tour with us. Dudes, dudettes and all homies far and wide, we are so stoked to share the stage with Honeybadger and the talented, yet humble, Sam Millar! Yew!”
Formed in a skate park in Farnham circa 2015, Kit Trigg is a power rock trio that delivers life-affirming classic rock songs for the present day.
Notwithstanding the dynamic vocals, poignant lyrics, choruses you can belt your heart out to or the rocket-powered rhythm section, it’s the quality of song-writing that sets this band apart.
