JUST THE TONIC

Greenslade & Thomas will issue ‘G&T’ on CD through Angel Air Records [Cat No SJPCD646] on 25 February 2022.  When Dave Greenslade heard Dave Thomas play at a theatre in Suffolk, he immediately decided he would like to work with him; Thomas gifting him a copy of his first solo record ‘Coldharbour’ sealed the deal. A few years later, when commitments finally allowed they got together and the result is ‘G&T’.

Having turned pro at the age of 20, Dave Greenslade quickly joined Chris Farlowe & The Thunderbirds. Three years later he moved on to Geno Washington’s Ram Jam Band. It is however his work with Colosseum for which he is best known, joining in 1968 the band that was put together by his old friend John Hiseman, and this marked the start of his prolific writing and composing career. Three years on found Dave forming his own band, the eponymous Greenslade who recorded four albums before disbanding. Colosseum reformed and toured extensively from 1994 until 2015. Dave also found the time to record six solo albums.

Dave Thomas joined seminal progressive rock band Blonde On Blonde in 1969 and toured in the UK for three years.  Then, in 1972, he moved to London where he joined Robin Lemesurier‘s rock band Reign.  When that band became The Wombles Dave decided it was time to turn back to the Blues.  For the next four years, he toured in the blues duo Shortstuff who established themselves with a residency at the legendary Half Moon in Putney. He has never stopped playing and performing! In 1996, he was invited to perform at the Texas Embassy for Paul McCartney. For seven years Dave played with his London Blues band The Diplomatics.  There followed a series of album releases, which led him on to take the role of band leader for Shake Down Blues working with many black American blues artists in the UK and in the USA.
