House of Cards’ is the stunning debut solo single from the charismatic singer and songwriter Isaac Howlett, best known as the voice and driving force behind the internationally renowned British synth-pop band EmpathyTest. The group have issued three acclaimed albums, the most recent of which is ‘Monsters’ (2020).
While not a million miles from the dark, emotional and cinematic tones listeners have grown to expect from Empathy Test over the last decade, ‘House of Cards’ finds Howlett’s poignant and arresting vocals bolstered by the energy of a punchy, uptempo beat and angular synth-bass groove.
With open and honest lyrics that confront the brutal reality but eventual relief of escaping a toxic relationship, the first taste of Howlett’s solo material will have his legion of fans dancing with tears in their eyes.
Howlett will be performing ‘House of Cards’ as part of the Empathy Test live set on their forthcoming 10th Anniversary European Tour in March and April 2024, which concludes with eight UK shows. The full itinerary is:
