Their new album VII is just two weeks away, but before Breed 77 drop their first new album in thirteen years, the flamenco metallers have got one more single for you and it is something very special! Don’t Give Me Up is an inspiring single with a very key message, that it is ok to be different!
Musically, Don’t Give Me Up kicks off with the signature nylon strings and lifts to a soaring, anthemic chorus, heartfelt vocals and that unmistakable dual guitar assault. It is Breed 77 firing on all cylinders and taking no prisoners.
Please check out the video for Don’t Give Me Up below, which features contributions from many of the band’s fans:
To tell you more about Don’t Give Me Up, we hand over to the band:
“Don’t Give Me Up is an epic rocker of a song with a strong message – an anthem for the dispossessed, the outcasts, the misunderstood and the discriminated against. The song speaks of the struggles of not fitting in, the bullying of those who may look different, dress different or think different. Society is not a kind place for anyone who does not conform to a certain image or lifestyle – kids are under constant pressure of their peers through the advent of social media – adults don’t have it too much better either.
In the modern media age everyone is quick to judge and criticize, without considering the hurt caused by their comments and actions. We’re here to say that it’s OK to be different – to dress however you want, to look the way that makes YOU happy, to live your life on your own terms, not other peoples. This song champions the resilience of all the ‘freaks’ and ‘weirdos’ and celebrates them as they rise above the challenge of modern day – and to those struggling and suffering, hang in there – you are not alone.”

| To tell you more about their long overdue, eagerly awaited new album, we will hand over to Breed 77 frontman Paul Isola: “The recording of this album has taken place over a year and a half and 3 countries, the writing of it even more – it wasn’t the most ideal situation but I think we thrive through adversity, you take negatives and turn them into positives, use the time, hone the songs, develop them and explore where they take you. The result is an album with real musical depth… ‘VII’ is a sprawling, eclectic affair, not by design but by the nature of how we recorded it – it takes inspiration from a large period of our lives, kinda like our first album all over again haha! It straddles the spectrum from driving metal riffs and the energy we’re known for – to soft ballads and everything in-between! This album still sounds like Breed 77, I mean, there’s the flamenco guitars, the tribal rhythms, the hooky vocal lines, but it stretches and pulls at the concept of B77 in a dozen different directions – it’s Breed evolved, somewhat familiar, but fresh and exciting. Lyrically, ‘VII’ explores various themes, there’s a lot in there on how, in today’s society, there’s so many of us that feel we don’t fit in; In the same way we felt in our youth, in the schoolyard – you’d think you’d have found your place in the world by now…well I’m here to say that it’s OK not to fit in, it’s OK to think different…it’s OK to BE different – it’s the original thinkers that will save the world! We cannot stress how important, how vital this album is for Breed 77 – after so much time it was imperative to us to have music that we believed in, songs that were strong and could sit beside the crowd favourites in our set…’VII’ is our mission statement – Breed 77 is back in a big way!” |
| Having delivered a string of hugely impressive live performances since their comeback in 2024, most notably on the Sophie Lancaster Stage at Bloodstock Festival 2025, Breed 77 will be hitting the road in the build up to the release of VII. Those lucky enough to be in Manchester on Friday the 13th of November will get a release day show, but expect the band to be playing new material on all dates, as well as all your old favourites.
