HOLD UP, IT’S JOE

Published:

Last Month, former Mighty Mighty Bosstones bassist, Joe Gittleman, announced that he would be releasing his debut solo album with Bad Time Records this June. Hold Up picks up where the Bosstones left off on their last few studio albums, blending breezy ska tunes with bursts of rock and roll and punk. The album features a handful of guest artists, including the titular track, “Hold Up”, that sees Joe teaming up with another prominent figure in the Boston ska-scene, Dave McWane of Big D and the Kids Table. “Hold Up” is all about shutting out the naysayers and detractors. If Joe Gittleman says you’re good enough, you listen, and you keep your head up! “Hold Up” is out now on all of your preferred streaming platforms. You can also check out his previously released single, “Plastered in the Rafters”, or his split with labelmates Bad Operation to keep the mood going. Vinyl pre-orders for Hold Up are available from Bad Time Records. Additionally, you can check out Joe’s new band The Kilograms, who released their self-titled debut EP earlier this year. That project includes Sammy Kay, Mick McDermott (Joan Jett/ex-Bouncing Souls), and J. Duckworth.

STREAM: HOLD UP

Bio:
You may know Joe from his split with BAD OPERATION last summer, his recent collaboration with The Kilograms, or his 30+ years as the Bass Fiddleman of The Mighty Mighty Bosstones… but Hold Up is his first full length solo record, and contains 12 songs brimming with an energy that is uniquely ‘Joe’. With help from some friends in Big D, The Pietasters, Sammy K, and more, “Hold Up” is a touches on Joe’s favorite elements of ska, reggae, and punk, and ultimately delivers a heartfelt and unforgettable experience.
