Send In The Marines – Gerry Jablonski Band Draft In New Lead Vocalist & Release New Single
Scotland’s very own international Heavy Blues ambassadors, Gerry Jablonski Band release a new single The Fighter 6th November 2026. It’s the first official recording release with their new lead vocalist Nicky Aiken.
As a legendary guitarist Gerry has been treading the boards since the 1980s in various guises and the award-winning Gerry Jablonski Band have been captivating audiences in the UK, Europe and Scandinavia for 15 years. “We’re a tight wee unit and everything had been based around 4 of us travelling as a hard-working band. It looks like chaos but to make an international touring band work it has to be a fairly well disciplined and dedicated team.”
After 15 years as a super tight four piece, why have they added a dedicated lead vocalist to the gang?
“We’ve known Nicky for a long time” explains guitar maestro Gerry, “he’s been around the Scottish music scene for many years. We asked him to join us for a couple of songs at our Aberdeen show and the performance really sparkled. It was one of those great live moments when everything clicked – we all looked at each other and felt, oh aye, this feels right! It seemed obvious after the show that we needed to take the collaboration further. You’ve got to follow where the music takes you, if it sounds good, you want more. I’ve always wanted a proper lead vocalist – I enjoy singing but I knew that a proper rock vocalist would open up the sound of the band and help us bring the show to a wider audience”.
Ex Marine Commando Nicky has now been playing full time with the band since that guest appearance at the home town show. Nicky has served his time in the music scene with (too many!) solo gigs, touring with his band Nicky Aiken and the Temple Sons and more recently as a solo act, supporting Marti Pellow on his UK tours but band work is where he thrives best.
Nicky says, “On the [first] show, I had to join them mid-set and instantly step into their high-octane show mid stride. Everything just clicked into place, the music took over and we were off! The band asked if I would come on a wee tour down south and help them out on some more shows. So, I had to learn more of their songs and within a couple of weeks I was on the road with them. After a show in Newcastle, they asked if I wanted to be “in the band”.
Their unique sound captures the essence of real blues and with a razor-sharp rock edge. Heavy riffs, catchy hooks and heartfelt melodies win over any audience, anywhere, anytime. The band are highly proficient players but it’s all about the song, the melody, the attitude and the energy.
With this new line-up and a batch of fresh songs they still run their same old money back guarantee. If you come and tell them after the show that you didn’t enjoy it, they will give you your money back!
“No one has ever taken us up on that offer” explains Pete, with a wink…
New single The Fighter is released on all formats and streaming services on November 6th, with their new album Skinny Blue Eyed Boy scheduled for release April 2027.
