Yorkshire newcomers FLESH PLANET are pleased to reveal the official video for their new single ‘Big Machine’, set for release on 25th February 2026 on all good digital service providers.
The track is the latest to be taken from their forthcoming debut EP, // first flesh, which will be released on 27th March 2026, and follows on from their debut single ‘Evelyn’ released last year.
Taking influence from The Prodigy‘s high energy rave vibes with a decent dose of grunge thrown in for good measure, the new single is a searing indictment of the dark side of social media—a dystopian media-age manifesto that’s part warning and part diagnosis, as technology and capitalism operate like a religion, shaping our behaviours and beliefs without most of us ever really questioning the status quo.
Commenting on the track, vocalist Damo Hughes says: “On the surface level, it’s about being angry at the way we’re all so obsessed with looking perfect on social media. Just a constant pressure to appear to be doing well to maintain a sense of status. If there isn’t documented proof of your great life online then you may as well not exist. It’s a totally manufactured trap though to get everyone trained on consumerism on the daily.”
“The scarier side of it is that there is now a generation of young people who lost a lot of their social learning years to COVID lockdowns, who are now being raised by the algorithms of content platforms that are pushing glorified cruelty and power games, and romanticising the rising fascism we’re seeing now. Almost as if they’re being purposely groomed to willfully participate in a system that ultimately is rigged against them…”
“Sonically we wanted something with a lot of bounce. It’s designed to be heavy and aggressive but something people can actually move to.”
Blending elements of grunge, shoegaze, industrial, and electronic in an eclectic but accomplished new sonic direction, the band are currently holed up at their residential recording studio Chairworks (The Reytons, Kaiser Chiefs, Paul Heaton, Richard Hawley) in Castleford putting the finishing touches to the forthcoming EP.
The band recently played their first national tour dates with VUKOVI and Saint Agnes earlier this month, and supported CKY front man Deron Miller’s 96 Bitter Beings project in Milton Keynes.
Further live dates will be announced over the coming months.
