Theatrical punks Felix Hagan & The Family have unveiled their enchanting video for ‘Some Kind Of Hero’, taken from the band’s brand new Kiss The Misfits EP. The video premiered with Clash who said, “’Some Kind Of Hero’ is a shout of love and defiance, and comes equipped with wry, funny and oddly moving animated visuals.”

Created with charming animation, the video is a valiant story depicting triumph over larger-than-life tribulations. The video is a collaboration between Felix Hagan, filmmaker Lee Isserow, and animator Rob Millard. Rob was one of the many fans who sent in their own pictures for last year’s single ‘Go Back Home’, and then after a chance meeting at a Frank Turner gig in Manchester the two devised a plan to use Rob’s formidable animation skills on a new song. Having cut his teeth at Factory (famous for the Clangers), Rob is now part of the Ardman team (Wallace & Gromit). The video took six weeks to animate and required eight different sets.

‘Some Kind Of Hero’ is a song of love and support. Through majestic swells of dreamy keys, Felix leads the charge through a glorious barrage of highly-strung synth pop on a regal steed of flighty rock ‘n’ roll.

Inspired by a loved one’s torment with depression, Felix has written the song in dedication to anyone who has ever been down in the depths of mental darkness, and the people that will stop at nothing to pull them back up.

‘Some Kind Of Hero’ follows the release of Felix Hagan & The Family’s infectious single and EP title track ‘Kiss The Misfits’, which was accompanied by a very entertaining video featuring Felix and many of his weird and wonderful fans, including folk-punk legend Frank Turner who saw them live and immediately asked them to support him, saying,Within about 30 seconds of them taking the stage, I was sold, a total convert, a newly-signed-up member of the cult.”

The Kiss The Misfits EP is a declaration of Felix and his band’s on-going mission to cram British pop music with the exuberance of grandiose, flamboyant rock’n’roll. Featuring Felix’s sharp lyricism, the songs deal with typically dark subjects – depression, addiction, the loss of young dreams and the torpor of everyday life – but set them on fire in a joyous explosion of spectacle.

The songs blend hard rock, dance, country and pop into a giant sparkling musical monster that brings to mind the varied likes of Queen and My Life Story.
