are proud to announce the release of a brand new single, CRIME OF PASSION.

CRIME OF PASSION deals with what happens when you fall in love with someone that keeps on breaking your heart, EMF’s singer James Atkin cries out soulfully ‘What I’m feeling’! trying to make sense of a tangle of dangerous emotions.

James shows his versatility at the service of emotion and submission, the arrangement has hints of New Order and the Smiths, bands that formed EMF’s musical direction and a synth solo that wouldn’t be out of place on an 80’s dance floor.

Taken from the new album GO GO SAPIENS where EMF explore their stylistic roots, everywhere from indie to techno and rock’n’roll but CRIME OF PASSION “shows that song writing, and emotion always come first.”

The CRIME OF PASSION single includes 3 further mixes; The Dayoffs Electro Version, The Dayoffs Guitar Version and The Caddel Mix.

Watch the stunning Crime of Passion video here:

The video is about underground culture, featuring skaters and a graffiti artist whose passion for their craft drive them to pushback against what authorities consider is criminal behaviour. “We are so privileged that Ben Hall was inspired to make the video for CRIME OF PASSION. He has been a long-term friend of the band and we have always been fans of his work especially his ‘UNSCENE’ project, documenting the unique atmosphere of love and respect amongst fans of 90’s UK indie bands like EMF, JESUS JONES, CARTER, NEDS, PWEI, THE WONDER STUFF and more.”

EMF have confirmed they are to play six club shows in January 2023, starting at the Tramshed in Cardiff on Thursday 12th and concluding at The Garage in London on Saturday 21st.

Playing live has always been a highlight for EMF and with the new songs from GO GO SAPIENS added to live favourites from earlier in their career, the live set is rich and varied. “We have never been happier playing shows. You may catch the dark, rave-rock re-invention of our hit ‘I’m a Believer’ that was such a success in the Bestival set and there will be a surprise song or two from other eras of our career. The warmth, passion and energy the fans have come to expect at an EMF show is guaranteed, as is the sheer joy and chaos that hit ‘Unbelievable’ provokes. We can’t wait to get out on tour in January.”
