Rising UK country pop singer-songwriter, Chanel Yates has today shared her latest single ‘Shotgun Seat‘ today (May 30) – available to listen to here.
Yates, who wrapped up her support run on Alexandra Kay’s ‘All I’ve Ever Known’ tour at O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire last night, shared of the single, “‘Shotgun Seat’ is a cheeky, revenge-fuelled country-pop anthem for anyone who’s ever been cheated on and wanted to cause a scene. It’s your ultimate hot girl summer rage anthem. Think of it as the little sister to ‘Before He Cheats’, with a gen z twist.”
The release follows ‘Big Girl Boots‘ in March, which received high praise from the likes of Holler who said of the track, “in the same way that Shaboozey’s ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’ and ‘Austin’ by Dasha became joyfully ubiquitous last year, Chanel Yates’ country girl power anthem ‘Big Girl Boots’ has felt delightfully inescapable this year.”
In addition to the studio version, Yates released ‘Big Girl Boots (Live)‘ which was recorded at Platoon studios in London. She also released a string of original songs in 2024, including ‘Cowboy For Christmas‘, which received a play on BBC Radio 1’s ‘Future Pop’, ‘Studio Apartment‘ and ‘Friend From Work‘.
With millions of views across social media, Chanel combines her unique storytelling style with influences from artists such as Taylor Swift and Kelsea Ballerini, and made her debut at C2C: Country to Country Festival in London and Glasgow in March.
