Cassyette has had an incredible start to 2024 with the release of lead singles ‘Why Am I Like this?’ and ‘Ipecac’, and a huge support slot on Bring Me The Horizon‘s UK arena tour. Ahead of her own UK and European headline tour, Cassyette has shared the raw and powerful new single ‘When She Told Me’. Pairing painfully beautiful lyrics with her signature screams and a heavy instrumental, the haunting track recalls the heartbreaking moment Cassyette learnt of her father’s passing and the grief that consumed her afterwards.
Speaking about the personal single, Cassyette said: “When She Told Me is about the moment my mum told me we lost my dad. It was the worst moment of my life. My vision literally flipped upside down. I didn’t find out until recently that this is a stress response where your body is about to shut down. It felt unexplainable and this song is as close as I got. If you know this feeling this is for you”
‘When She Told Me’ is the third single lifted from Cassyette’s highly anticipated debut album ‘This World Fucking Sucks’, following ‘Why Am I LIke This?’ and ‘Ipecac’. The coming-of-age record is Cassyette’s most personal to date, and an anthology of collected feelings that address the nature of living in today’s society. Cassyette holds nothing back on this record as she tackles a range of complex subject matters from grief to substance abuse, nihilism and more. Sonically, expect to hear Cassyette effortlessly blend genres as she blurs the lines of rock, pop, metal, drum ‘n’ bass and more like never seen before.
Speaking about her debut album ‘This World Fucking Sucks’ Cassyette said: “I’m so excited for the release of my first album. I’ve put in so much work and I’ve collaborated with so many amazing and talented people and I’m so grateful to see it brought to life. Since my Dad’s passing, I’ve tried my best to not surrender to the darkness that comes with grief. It’s from that darkness that ‘This World Fucking Sucks’ was born, and I really hope to do him proud, and that anyone that’s going through the same thing takes comfort in listening to it. We’re in this together.”
Cassyette is set to embark on a massive UK and European headline next month. Kicking off in Cardiff on April 1st, the tour will be her biggest yet with 17 dates across Europe, including shows in London, Paris, Berlin and more. This tour is one of the first chances for fans to hear Cassyette perform tracks off her debut album and follows last month’s co-headline US tour with YONAKA. Later this summer Cassyette will also join Bryan Adams for a string of outdoor summer shows.
