Having just joined Bring Me The Horizon on their UK arena tour, where she’ll play two consecutive shows at London’s O2 Arena this weekend, Cassyette has unleashed the first two singles from her highly anticipated debut album ‘This World Fucking Sucks’. ‘Why Am I Like This?’ is Cassyette at her most raw and honest. The genre-bending track is an ode to self-reflection and self-apathy set with crashing drums and an infectious hook. Meanwhile ‘Ipecac’ sees Cassyette at her most volatile as she vocally expels the sickness in her world. Named after the medication used to induce vomiting, the hard-hitting track sees anger-fuelled lyrics paired with Cassyette’s signature screams and vocals at full throttle. ‘Why Am I Like This?’ is also accompanied by a captivating visualiser – watch here.
Both singles showcase Cassyette’s unrivalled versatility as an artist and serve as the perfect appetiser for her highly anticipated debut album ‘This World Fucking Sucks’. This coming-of-age record is Cassyette’s most personal to date and an anthology of collected feelings that address the nature of living in today’s society. Cassyette holds nothing back on this record as she tackles a range of complex subject matters from grief to substance abuse, nihilism and more. Sonically, expect to hear Cassyette effortlessly blend genres as she blurs the lines of rock, pop, metal, drum ‘n’ bass and more like never seen before.
Speaking about her debut album ‘This World Fucking Sucks’ Cassyette said: “I’m so excited for the release of my first album. I’ve put in so much work and I’ve collaborated with so many amazing and talented people and I’m so grateful to see it brought to life. Since my Dad’s passing, I’ve tried my best to not surrender to the darkness that comes with grief. It’s from that darkness that ‘This World Fucking Sucks’ was born, and I really hope to do him proud, and that anyone that’s going through the same thing takes comfort in listening to it. We’re in this together.”
‘Why Am I Like This?’ and ‘Ipecac’ marks the first new music since last year’s ‘BOOM’ and the first full project since 2022’s ‘Sad Girl’ mixtape which featured fan-favourites ‘Mayhem’, ‘Sad Girl Summer’ and ‘September Rain’. Critics praised the mixtape with rave reviews from DIY, The Line of Best Fit and NME who described it as a “bold, brilliant debut worth shouting about”. Other 2023 highlights include gracing the cover of Kerrang!, becoming the first featured artist for TikTok’s Rock Hub and performing at Glastonbury.
In addition to today’s album announcement, Cassyette has announced a massive UK and European headline tour. Kicking off in Cardiff on April 1st, the tour will be her biggest yet with 17 dates across Europe, including shows in London, Paris, Berlin and more. This tour is one of the first chances for fans to hear Cassyette perform tracks off her debut album and follows last week’s announcement of THE RIOT TOUR, a co-headline tour across the US’s East Coast with UK alt disruptors YONAKA.
