Bristol-based, multi-award-winning Elles Bailey got out in the sunshine in her home city to shoot the upbeat video for the second single to be released from her next album, ‘Shining in the Half Light’. Very apt, as the single is ‘Sunshine City’!Elles’ album is due for release in early 2022 and she will also be touring in the UK between 28th October and 11th December on her headline Sunshine City Tour. Venues are selling out fast, so book ASAP!
‘I know I’ve said it before,” says Elles,“but ‘Sunshine City’ isn’t supposed to take itself too seriously; it’s about letting your hair down, putting on your fancy shoes, gathering your friends together and revelling in a little bit of hedonism. So, to make the video, we did just that! I got my friends Lady Nade, Holly Dean Revington and Bexx out for a day partying in Bristol and George Montague followed us around with his camera. The video features some of my favourite spots from my hometown: Uncle Sam’s Vintage Store, The Broken Dock, & The Bristol Fringe.
“I’m delighted we also managed to rope co-writer Matt Owens (of Noah and the Whale) in for a cameo on the guitar, and a huge shout-out to Tristan Brightman and The Bristol Blues Dancing Society for cutting some shapes on the docks!”
This song is one of Elles’ rockiest releases to date, showing how a woman rightly crowned “The Blues Princess” by Blues in Britain crosses and transcend genres making songs this vibrant and enjoyable on their own terms.
