BODY COUNT VIDEO AND ALBUM

Published:

Today, GRAMMY-Award winning outfit BODY COUNT return with Merciless, produced by Will Putney, a new album that takes their fearless, uncompromising sound to new heights. The record reaffirms their unyielding stance on social issues while delivering the hard-hitting, raw energy fans have come to expect. With contributions from legends like David GilmourMax Cavalera, and Howard Jones, this record pushes BODY COUNT‘s sound into powerful new territory without losing the edge that defines them.

On the new release, Ice-T states:
“We had a string of one-word albums. We had Bloodlust, we had Carnivore and that word, Merciless, just bumped into my head. It’s really about that point where you can’t take any more and you’re done. Like the song says, ‘I got no more fucks to give.’ When you push a person to that point, it’s too late to ask for mercy. I was watching a lot of movies like Hostel; a lot of cruel torture movies when I was writing the album, and I was like, ‘These people are cold-blooded.’ That’s what triggered that whole energy.”

BODY COUNT‘s last release, Carnivore, was released in 2020 and earned the band a Grammy for Best Metal Performance. The band recently finished their EU/UK Merciless Tour, and will headline at the Louder Than Life Festival in Louisville, KY, and the Aftershock Festival in Sacramento, CA. this autumn.

For BODY COUNT, it’s been a history of being both respected and feared – a barbed-wire thread that stretches back to the band’s origins as a project between Ice-T and Crenshaw High friend, Ernie C. Their first shot fired, the song, ‘Body Count’, was a mission statement on Ice-T’s 1991 O.G. – Original Gangster. That’s the blueprint they’ve been running on for 35+ years.

They touched a nerve with their first, self-titled 1991 album and its divisive track, ‘Cop Killer’, which inspired hatred, fear, and paranoia, but also inspired generations of bands to follow. What they took from growing up with BlackSabbath and being inspired by fellow L.A. legends like Slayer and SuicidalTendencies has only upped the ante for generations of homies and hardcore fans. BODY COUNT‘s current line-up includes surviving OG’s Ice, Ernie C. and Sean E Sean, joined by bassist Vincent Price, drummer Will “Ill Will” Dorsey, Juan “Juan of the Dead” Garcia and backing vocalist Little Ice.

Band Members:
Ice-T – vocals
Ernie C – guitars
