Blues Pills release video from Swedish TV debut ahead of UK/Euro “Birthday” album tour kicking off next month

Swedish rock’n’roll band Blues Pills have made their national TV debut playing two songs on the evening show Go’Kväll filmed in Umeå. Celebrating the release of their new album “Birthday” the band performed ballad Top Of The Sky to a live studio audience.

The performance took the band up the charts – Swedish charts / playlist numbers

Guitarist Zack Anderson states “It was an incredible experience playing on TV in our home country. Despite everything we’ve done through our career and successes in other countries, we’ve always remained sort of underdogs in Sweden, so this was a big moment for us.”

Top of The Sky was the third single released from Blues Pills new album, it may seem like a straightforward love ballad, but guitarist Zack from Blues Pills explains that “Top Of The Sky is actually about going anywhere and doing anything to seek attention on the internet” he continues “I was inspired by this documentary about an influencer in China who climbs buildings. He climbed a skyscraper and fell and died while streaming. It made me reflect on the age we live in where people are chasing attention and likes on social media, being willing to climb so high to try to find connection and approval online.”

“I’ll go anywhere for you my love

Nothing I wouldn’t do for you my love

But it’s a long way down, a long way down…

To fall.” – Top Of The Sky, Blues Pills

Blues Pills “Happy F*cking Birthday!” tour kicks off next month. Increasingly known for the strength of their powerful live show guitarist Zack Anderson comments: “There’s been a natural progression with us levelling up our stage presence, Elin is fearless now owning the stage, jumping around, powerstances, crowdsurfing, full of fire.”

“We are beyond excited to embark on our” Happy F*cking Birthday Tour” says Elin Larsson, the powerhouse vocalist of Blues Pills. “This tour is not just about celebrating our shared love for music, it’s about celebrating our fans, our journey, and the incredible experiences we’ve had along the way. We can’t wait to hit the stage with our new album BIRTHDAY and share the music with our fans across Europe.”

As special guest for all show dates Blues Pills proudly present the Canadian eclectic rock’n’roll band Daniel Romano’s Outfit

Also joining the band on the road for the first time will be Elin’s baby son. Elin found out she was pregnant while writing this new album, recording the songs while very pregnant often feeling like she was gifted more energy and a new sense of freedom by her growing baby, when she laid the vocal tracks down.

“My son has joined me already on the road this summer for festivals, but this is the first time he will be out on the road day to day.” Juggling being a kickass frontwoman with her new role as a mother is highlighting all sorts of new challenges as the band goes from venue to venue.

Blues Pills have always been ahead of the curve with their outspoken attitude. From before the #MeToo movement over the past 12 years Blues Pills have been at the bleeding edge, dealing with life as a modern rock band with a female singer.

Now Elin’s new role as a mother has, if anything made their conviction to continue their music, and in their collective feminism, grounded in mutual respect and standing up for themselves and each other, even stronger.

Elin: “I need to do this for myself and for other mothers, so they don’t abandon their own passions after becoming mums. It’s going to take time to combine the two worlds I love, but I can only think it will do my son Loui good to experience other cultures, countries and music. I really think it’s important that I can do this. To empower other women, and to meet this new state proudly and enjoy”.
