Black Blood On Black Blood

Downtuned goodness from Finland

The Finnish mix of short summers and long dark winters are a great source of inspiration in both positive and negative feelings. That combination is where the group of four dudes who make up Black Blood have grown up.

First listening to evergreen tunes made by legends such as Black Sabbath, Metallica, Led Zeppelin, Anthrax, Pantera, Iron Maiden and many, many more. Later playing covers made by the same artists and all the time finding new great bands.

Those dudes formed a band and started to play music of their own after realizing how damn awesome it was to actually build a song out of an idea. Or a groovy riff. Or the simplest drum beat. Or nothing at all!! Later on, during a night of heavy drinking and smoking that band was named Black Blood. None of the dudes really remembered how that name came up but next day it was decided. (Later they remembered fact is that it was some piece of some lyric of the mighty filth called GWAR.) A bit cliché, sure, but who cares? Sounds cool as hell!

Black Blood’s early songs were simple, groovy, straight forward and had a lot of stoner qualities. Later on some trash-metal influence got in to the mix. As more and more songs came out the band developed a sound what many people described as very similar to Swedish death’n’roll band Entombed.

These dudes were actually just trying to do something that they can call their own and didn’t not to be labeled as sounding anything else than Black Blood. This principle is still one of the main philosophies of the band. “Do your own thing!”

Four years of gigs in local bars, smaller and bigger clubs. Bigger and smaller crowds. A lot of beer, sweat and smokes, but now Black Blood is finally releasing its first full length album that was recorded in D-Studio in Klaukkala, Nurmijärvi. The debut has songs with more and less groove, some more trashy and some with a bit more blues. All songs are at some level a reflection of the dudes’ lives in both good and bad. Some from darker times, some from brighter days, but all straight from the heart.

New songs are already done and more are popping out all the time. The groove lives on as more and more new tunes and ideas are born. In the future you will very likely hear new songs almost every show. One thing is for sure and it’s that this record is only the beginning of a band called Black Blood. If you want the real Black Blood experience, be sure to come check out the band live! With these words be sure to check out the debut album and upcoming live shows!
