West Coast-based progressive and heavy rock project BIG SCENIC NOWHERE (with members of Yawning Man, Fu Manchu and Mos Generator) present the hypnotic “Surf Western” taken from their third studio album “The Waydown”, to be released on February 2nd via Heavy Psych Sounds.
About the song, guitarist Bob Balch says: “Surf Western was a riff that Gary Arce started playing while we were in the studio. I figured out a harmony for it and then Gary Arce, Tony Reed, Billy Stinson and myself started jamming on it for about 20 minutes. We did some editing on it, to give it a middle section that breaks down to just Tony Reed and my guitar. It then ends heavy with some synth and fuzz. I feel like there are a lot of different styles in this song, so it’s a good representation of what the record sounds like since we’re pulling from multiple influences throughout.“
