Belfast alt heavy rock outfit Triggertone have solidified their definitive three-piece lineup to announce their explosive new 4-track EP, Bombs Away. Recorded at Manor Park Studio with renowned producer Neal Calderwood (The Answer, Fighting With Fire, Mojo Fury, LaFaro, General Fiasco), the upcoming release documents a band capturing their raw, live-tested energy and turning it into a concentrated showcase of heavy riffs and hook-heavy melodies.

For an outfit that has steadily earned respect across the competitive Irish alternative circuit – landing national radio play and reaching the semi-finals of Bloodstock’s Metal 2 the Masses – the new EP is less of a standard release and more of a total validation of their own purpose.
Triggertone land where alternative rock’s unpolished friction meets the steady grooves of stoner rock and ’90s grunge, letting the soundscapes bleed into each other naturally. Their songs build and unfold in waves: heavy and abrasive one moment, then wide, melodic, and hook-heavy the next – so the contrast feels fluid rather than forced, pulling everything into one cohesive, emotionally charged sound. It’s a distinctive collision point where heavy grunge intensity meets highly melodic rock earworms, held together in a tense, finely balanced power trio dynamic.
The band’s sound is a study in raw contrast: crushing basslines and gritty, vulnerable vocals plunge into a steady barrage of heavy riffs, only to be relentlessly offset by soaring guitar leads and intricate three-part vocal harmonies. It is a powerful execution that showcases rare vocal adaptability for a rock trio, with all three members – lead vocalist/guitarist Ben Graves, bassist Ruaidhri Houston, and drummer Brendan Scullion contributing lead melodies, harmonies, and backing vocals to sculpt their sound.
Conceptually, the EP, Bombs Away, is an honest exercise in collective identity, mapping both personal psychological struggles and the intense frustrations of a changing global environment. The new offering is a focused traversal through shifting perspectives.
The record opens with the anti-authoritarian friction of “Pray,” tackling cult mentalities before using a clean bridge to question media control. That tension spirals into “Room 1046,” an Alice in Chains-tinted grunge track turning a real-world 1930s hotel murder mystery into heavy narrative suspense. Triggertone shifts to personal terrain on “The Fade,” navigating the weight of depression before lifting into a hopeful finish of self-worth. Everything erupts on the title track, “Bombs Away” – a spontaneous, anti-war anthem armed with a Jimmy Page-inspired solo that perfectly welds stoner rock weight to alternative rock melody. On this new EP, the heavy weight of stoner rock and grace of melodic rock are infused into a singular, defiant body of work, proving that raw frustration and genuine hope can coexist within the same sanctuary of sound.
Recorded in Autumn 2025 at Manor Park Recording Studio in Moneyglass, Bombs Away was meticulously produced, engineered, mixed, and mastered by Neal Calderwood. The production prioritises natural room resonance and performance authenticity over sterile digital correction, creating a sound that feels immediate and live-tested.
Ultimately, Triggertone remain dedicated to the true “essence” of garage rock music: the melodies, the lyrics, and the raw humanity of a band playing live, in a room together. In a landscape of rigid subgenres and the rise of A.I.; this unique trio offer an immediate rock dimension that brings people together. As they push forward with recent momentum into 2026 and beyond, Triggertone prove that whatever troubles surround you, there is a sanctuary of sound that’s your own within the maelstrom.
